What changed for every class in WoW Forever
These rules appear in every article of Blizzard’s official class deep dive series:
- WoW Forever keeps the original nine classes — all covered by the deep dives.
- Talents unlock at level 10 and keep the original structure (same number of rows), with single-point milestone talents at the 11, 21 and 31-point marks and a new milestone at 16 points.
- Some talents are exactly the same as patch 1.12, some are adjusted. Several key buffs that used to be talents — for example Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild — are baseline skills now.
- Changing talents (including Legacy talents) is done at class trainers in capital cities. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.
Blizzard’s own caveat, quoted from the deep dives: class abilities and talents “may continue to evolve throughout the beta test and are subject to additional changes.” Treat every detail on this page as beta-era and dated October 17, 2026.
All 9 WoW Forever classes
Every class name links to the Blizzard deep dive that covers it. “Official direction” paraphrases that article; it is not our opinion.
| Class | Talent trees | Official direction |
|---|---|---|
| Druid | — | Adaptable forms and nature magic. |
| Hunter | Beast Mastery / Marksmanship / Survival | Trusted companions and ranged precision. |
| Mage | Arcane / Fire / Frost | More active split-second decisions in every spell school, cross-tree talent builds encouraged, plus the new Mage-only minor tradeskill Comprehension. |
| Paladin | Holy / Protection / Retribution | Seals and Judgements kept; new Holy Strike (level 6) and Seal of Fury (level 10); Judgement no longer consumes the Seal; easier Seal Twisting for Retribution. |
| Priest | Discipline / Holy / Shadow | Wider access to important tools, with new talents supporting healing, support and shadow damage. |
| Rogue | Assassination / Combat / Subtlety | More poison charges, usable together with temporary weapon enchants; stronger daggers, other weapons, finishers and bleeds. |
| Shaman | Elemental Combat / Enhancement / Restoration | Longer-lasting weapon enchants, faster and longer-lived totems, plus new totem tracking, Call spells, Totemic Recall and Totemic Projection. |
| Warlock | Affliction / Demonology / Destruction | Banes separate damage effects from utility curses; pets grow with their owner; Firestone and Spellstone reworked. |
| Warrior | Arms / Fury / Protection | Steadier rage, some support abilities become baseline skills, and each specialization’s role is clearer. |
Druid talent tree names were not listed in the Blizzard pages we verified, so that cell stays empty rather than guessing.
Race and class combinations
Confirmed with the game’s announcement
Two things are recorded on the game’s Wikipedia page as announced content: a new playable race, the Skyborne Elves, and race-class combinations original WoW never had — with Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman named as examples.
Reported, not yet confirmed by Blizzard
Community outlets — Icy Veins among several that agree — report six new combinations in total. Reported, not yet confirmed by Blizzard, so treat this list as a report until it appears on an official Blizzard page:
| Reported new combination |
|---|
| Human Hunter |
| Dwarf Shaman |
| Gnome Priest |
| Orc Mage |
| Troll Warlock |
| Undead Paladin |
The same reports say Night Elves and Tauren get no new combinations.
Which classes can Skyborne Elves be?
Not confirmed by Blizzard yet. Reports disagree on which classes Skyborne Elves can play, so this page does not list any. Check Blizzard’s official channels for the final list.
Which class should you play?
This guide does not pick a “best” class. Instead, here is the playstyle each class covers according to Blizzard’s own deep dive descriptions — find the row that matches what you enjoy:
| If you want… | Look at | Because the deep dive emphasizes… |
|---|---|---|
| A trusted pet and precise ranged damage | Hunter | trusted companions and ranged precision |
| Shapeshifting and nature magic | Druid | adaptable forms and nature magic |
| Healing, support or shadow damage | Priest | new talents supporting healing, support and shadow damage |
| Steadier rage and clearly separated roles | Warrior | steadier rage and a clearer role for every specialization |
| Active split-second decisions across spell schools | Mage | more active decisions in every school, cross-tree builds encouraged |
| Weapon enchants and totems | Shaman | longer-lasting enchants, faster and longer-lived totems |
| Poisons, daggers and bleed damage | Rogue | more poison charges and stronger daggers, finishers and bleeds |
| Curses and a demon pet that grows with you | Warlock | Banes and pets that grow with their owner |
| Seals and Judgements, with Holy Strike from level 6 | Paladin | the Seal and Judgement system, plus new Holy Strike and Seal of Fury |
Also worth knowing before launch: name reservations open October 27, and the game itself launches November 4, 2026.
