Before you start
- A Battle.net account with World of Warcraft on it. A subscription is not required for the test.
- The Battle.net desktop app, updated.
- Enough disk space and time to install before the test opens — the window is only a few hours long.
How do I install the WoW Forever stress test?
- Update your graphics driver. Blizzard lists this first, before touching the Battle.net app.
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and let it update if it prompts you.
- Select World of Warcraft in your games list.
- Open the Game Version menu above the Play button, pick World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test under In Development, and click Install. This is a separate install from your normal game.
- When the install is done and the test has started, click Play and choose an available test realm.
- Create a new test character and enter the game.
Start times for every region are in the table on the home page. Europe opens first at 17:00 UTC; Americas, Oceania, Korea and Taiwan open at 21:00 UTC.
Troubleshooting (general tips)
These are general tips, not official Blizzard instructions:
- The stress test entry is missing from the Game Version menu. Fully quit the Battle.net app and open it again, and check the app itself for pending updates.
- You sit in a queue or get disconnected. Stay calm and re-queue: a stress test exists to push the servers to their limits, so queues and hiccups are expected behavior, not a fault on your machine.
- You do not have a WoW account yet. Create a Battle.net account and add World of Warcraft before the test opens on October 21. Blizzard only promises access for players with a WoW account; it says nothing about free Starter accounts, so do not count on one.
After you are in
Blizzard suggests playing for real: create characters, run quests, trade items, chat and group up. Every character made on the stress test realms is wiped when the window closes — see how long the test lasts and what happens to the beta.
